PlayerUp Review: Is PlayerUp Legit for YouTube Channels?

Is PlayerUp legit? It is a real, long-running marketplace for game accounts where a staff middleman closes the deal, and sellers pay up to about 13% for it. For a YouTube channel the better question is whether a process built for game logins fits an asset with revenue, strikes and a 7-day ownership rule.

In the 10,000+ channel deals I've handled at Hypertube, the transfer of ownership was where deals broke. Hypertube competes with PlayerUp for channel buyers, so weigh this review accordingly. PlayerUp blocked automated access to its help pages when I checked in October 2026, so its terms are cited from its published middleman pages as indexed.

TL;DR

PlayerUp is legit as a game account marketplace, and its middleman holds the payment until the buyer confirms delivery. It is a weak fit for YouTube channels: the process treats a channel like a login. Hypertube sells only YouTube channels, requires KYC from every seller, and its agent holds the channel through the 7-day transfer for 7% down to 3.5%.

PlayerUp Review: How It Compares With Hypertube

PlayerUp is a peer-to-peer marketplace for game accounts that also has a YouTube section. A staff middleman takes the buyer's payment, watches the handover and pays the seller. Hypertube sells only YouTube channels and services through an escrow agent. The table compares the 2 for a channel deal.

PlayerUp has a real advantage for buyers on paper: its published terms state no middleman fee for the buyer. The seller carries the cost, and in practice a seller who gives up 13% asks for more.

The structural gap is the handover. A game account changes hands when the login and the recovery email change. A YouTube channel changes hands through YouTube's permission system, and the seller remains primary owner for a week after adding the buyer. A middleman who confirms delivery on day 1 has confirmed access. Ownership comes later, and only if the seller cooperates.

The full list of what can go wrong in that week is in the article on the risks of buying a YouTube channel.

Is PlayerUp Legit or a Scam?

PlayerUp is legit in the basic sense: it is an established marketplace, the middleman service exists, and many deals close normally. Asking whether PlayerUp is a scam misses the real issue. The platform is a venue for strangers, and user complaints on review sites concentrate on 2 things: delayed payouts and slow replies from middlemen.

I could not open PlayerUp's Trustpilot profile from my location in October 2026, so I give no score here. Read the reviews yourself, sort by newest, and look at how many of the unhappy ones mention a deal that went through the middleman. That tells you more than an average.

Sellers on PlayerUp are forum accounts. Reputation is a post count, a join date and feedback from earlier trades. That works for a 20 USD game account. A channel priced in thousands deserves a counterparty whose identity someone has checked, and on Hypertube nobody can list a channel without passing KYC.

Three questions to settle before paying on any platform:

  1. Is the seller a verified person or an anonymous profile?
  2. Does the middleman hold the money until primary ownership moves, or only until first access?
  3. Who decides the dispute if monetization or statistics turn out to be different?

The statistics matter because most listings say little. Fewer than half of all channels for sale, around 43%, disclose any earnings figure, and the ones that do are priced about 8× higher per subscriber. A claim that valuable should be shown live in YouTube Studio.

If you search "is PlayerUp legit" on Reddit, expect both kinds of stories. A long-running site with thousands of small trades produces smooth deals and bad ones, and the bad ones are the useful reading.

How Does the PlayerUp Middleman Work?

The PlayerUp middleman is a staff member who stands between the 2 parties: the buyer pays PlayerUp, the seller delivers the account, the buyer confirms it works, and the middleman releases the money to the seller. The seller pays for the service, and the published rate depends on the payout method.

How PlayerUp works in 4 steps:

  1. Buyer and seller agree on a price in the listing thread or in messages.
  2. The buyer opens a middleman transaction and pays PlayerUp.
  3. The seller hands over the account details and the buyer checks them.
  4. The middleman pays the seller, minus the fee.

According to PlayerUp's middleman pages, the seller's cost reaches about 13% with a PayPal payout, built from a processing fee of 9.99% and 3% for chargeback protection, and a crypto payout is quoted at about 2%. The rate falls as a seller completes more middleman transactions.

For a YouTube channel, step 3 hides the problem. YouTube makes a new owner wait 7 days before primary ownership can be assigned. Until then the seller can remove the buyer from the channel. If the money is released when the buyer first gets in, the seller holds both the payment and the channel for a week.

Hypertube's deal is built around that week. The seller assigns the escrow agent as channel owner, the agent verifies the channel details and gives the buyer manager rights for review, and after 7 days the agent makes the buyer primary owner and removes the seller. The secure escrow system releases the payment only then.

Monetization needs its own check. Per YouTube's Partner Program explainer, full monetization requires 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours plus approval, so a channel that only meets the numbers is not yet earning.

PlayerUp Fees Compared With a YouTube Marketplace

PlayerUp charges the seller up to about 13% of the price and states no fee for the buyer. Hypertube charges one fee per deal: 7% under 1,000 USD, 5% above it, 4% above 10,000 USD and 3.5% above 20,000 USD, with a 10 USD minimum. There is no listing fee or subscription on Hypertube.

The same channel at 3 prices, with a PayPal payout on PlayerUp:

  • 300 USD channel: PlayerUp up to about 39 USD. Hypertube 21 USD.
  • 5,000 USD channel: PlayerUp up to about 650 USD. Hypertube 250 USD.
  • 25,000 USD channel: PlayerUp up to about 3,250 USD. Hypertube 875 USD.

A crypto payout does not change the ranking. PlayerUp quotes about 2% for it, a charge that grows with the price: 100 USD on a 5,000 USD sale and 500 USD on a 25,000 USD one. On Hypertube a crypto withdrawal costs a flat 1 USD at any amount. The seller keeps more, and the deal still includes an agent, an identity check and a channel-specific dispute process.

Fee structure follows the product. A percentage tuned for game accounts worth tens of dollars scales badly to channels. In our data the median premium channel asks about 20,000 USD, and 13% of that is 2,600 USD for a service that confirms a login.

Most channels are small, though. About two-thirds of all listings are priced under 1,000 USD and roughly half under 250 USD. At that size the fee difference is a few dollars, and what matters is whether the transfer survives the first week.

PlayerUp Alternatives: Is PlayerUp Safe Enough for a Channel?

PlayerUp is safe enough for what it was built for, low-priced game accounts with a middleman watching the handover. For a YouTube channel the main PlayerUp alternatives are a YouTube-only marketplace such as Hypertube, a general business marketplace for large channels, or a private deal with third-party escrow.

  • Buying a YouTube channel at any price: Hypertube. Sellers pass KYC, the agent holds the channel for the 7-day wait, and Instant Buy listings open access within 5 minutes.
  • Buying game accounts: PlayerUp and similar sites are the relevant market. Hypertube does not sell those.
  • Buying a channel run as a company: a business marketplace or broker presents the profit record in a format investors expect.
  • Selling a channel: compare what you keep. On a 5,000 USD sale that is about 4,350 USD after a 13% fee and 4,750 USD on Hypertube.

Sellers who wonder how to sell an account on PlayerUp will find the process simple: post a listing, agree a price, deliver through the middleman. Selling a channel needs more preparation, because buyers pay for proof. A monetized channel asks roughly 3× more than a comparable one without monetization, and that premium has to be shown in Studio.

Channels have become businesses worth protecting. According to YouTube's 2024 US Impact Report, its ecosystem supported the equivalent of 490,000 full-time jobs in the United States.

If you are selling, you can list your channel for sale on Hypertube without a listing fee.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is PlayerUp.com legit?
Yes, in the sense that it is a real marketplace with a working middleman service. Whether a given deal is safe depends on the seller and on using the middleman. To answer "is PlayerUp legit" for a YouTube channel, add one caveat: the process confirms access to an account, and channel ownership moves only after YouTube's 7-day wait.
Is PlayerUp safe for buying a YouTube channel?
Only partly. The PlayerUp middleman protects the payment until the buyer confirms delivery, which suits game accounts. A YouTube channel can be taken back by the seller during the 7 days before primary ownership changes. Unless the money is held for that whole period, the buyer carries the risk. Hypertube's agent holds the channel itself.
How much does the PlayerUp middleman cost?
PlayerUp states no middleman fee for buyers. Sellers pay up to about 13% with a PayPal payout, according to its published middleman terms, and a crypto payout is quoted at about 2%. On a 5,000 USD sale the top rate is about 650 USD. Hypertube charges 250 USD on the same deal, and a crypto withdrawal costs a flat 1 USD.
Can you sell a YouTube channel on PlayerUp?
Yes. PlayerUp has a YouTube section where sellers post channels as forum listings and close through the middleman. Expect buyers used to game accounts and low prices. A channel with revenue sells better where buyers can verify earnings and the seller's identity, and where an agent manages the ownership transfer.
What is the best PlayerUp alternative for YouTube channels?
Hypertube is the closest alternative for YouTube channels. It sells only channels and YouTube services, requires KYC from every seller, and its escrow agent holds the channel until the buyer becomes primary owner. The fee starts at 7% and falls to 3.5% above 20,000 USD, with a 10 USD minimum and no subscription.
